My last two posts (My Tarot Cards Told Me I’m a Smartass and I’ll Take My Tarot Salty, Please) have been about my first impressions of the original Rider-Waite Tarot deck. Here is my final post on this subject.
The final two suits of the Minor Arcana are Swords and Pentacles, which represent air and earth; thoughts/intellect and practical/material; ideas and actions; mind and money; spades and diamonds.
Some of the Swords cards are pretty heavy, so I’m taking them especially lightly, because, remember: you can’t believe everything you think.
| Swords | |
![]() | Three of Swords: Ouch. |
![]() | Five of Swords: The Asshole Card. Meaning: Either you’re an asshole, or you’re dealing with one. |
![]() | Nine of Swords: “I had the worst nightmare! There were these nine swords mounted on the wall over my – noooooooo!” |
![]() | Ten of Swords: Very ouch.![]() |
![]() | Page of Swords: “Does this sword make me look butch?” |
![]() | Queen of Swords: “Come here and say that.” |
![]() | King of Swords: “Say that again and my wife will kick your ass.” |
| Pentacles | |
![]() | Ace of Pentacles: “Here you are. The root of all evil. I call it ‘money’. Have fun with it.” |
![]() | Two of Pentacles: Juggling money – the infinite struggle. |
![]() | Four of Pentacles: “I like money.”![]() |
![]() | Seven of Pentacles: And they say money doesn’t grow on trees. |
![]() | Queen of Pentacles: “Sigh. I married a king and all I got was this coin.” |
![]() | King of Pentacles: “My wife is so lucky. She has me as a husband AND this coin!” |
